The Myth Of Names
Many pet stores give fake names to hamsters. These fake names include; The Blackberry Hamster,The Panda Bear Hamster,The Teddy Bear Hamster,and more. Pet stores do this to make their hamsters sound exotic,rare,and exciting. By doing this they can sell the hamsters for more money,sell them faster,and more.
The Five Hamster Species
There are only five true types of hamsters. These are not "breeds",they are species. The five species are;
1)Syrian
2)Campbells Russian Dwarf
3)Chinese Hamster
4)Winter White/Djungarian hamster
5)Robo/Roborovski
The most common hamster is the Syrian hamster. The syrian hamster is the largest species of hamster. Syrians are most often the one you see with the fake names. Once you look at just a couple pictures or syrians you can easily tell them apart from the rest.
