C&C Cages

A C&C cage is a great cage for guinea pigs,rabbits,hedgehogs,and more! C&C stands for cubes and cloraplast. Cubes are the wire storage cubes used they are used as walls because guinea pigs can't climb or jump but the can climp and jump around 5 inches at most so they need something more than the plastic cloraplast. Cloraplast is a water proof coragated plastic used for signs. Cloraplast can be purchased at local sign shops,guineapigzone.com,guineapigcages.com,and more. The wire storage cubes can be purchased at walmart,target,guineapigcages.com,guineapigzone.com,and more.

Guinea Pigs Living Together

Many people only have one guinea pig,they aren't aware of the major importance of having at least two guinea pigs. Guinea pigs are very social animals,they are like(almost all)humans and get extremely lonely when living alone. If you have more than one guinea pig make sure both guinea pigs are the same sex(all male or all female)or have all of the boys neutered. Getting a guinea pig neutered or spayed is very expensive so it is easier to just get guinea pigs that are of the same sex. Lots of people get boars(males) and think "Guinea pigs are not social,at all." or "Why do people say guinea pigs like living together,that's not true.". Boars are known to fight for dominence,almost all boars do it. there is no need to worry. Sometimes boars will go too far and draw blood or cause vet visits,only seperate them if something serious like that happens. When boars are seperated then put back together they get in bad fights so do not go to seperating as a right away option.

Food:Hay

One of the three catagories of food guinea pigs eat is hay. A commen type of hay is timothy hay. Timothy hay is a great type of hay for small pets. You can purchase timothy hay at Target,Walmart,almost all pet stores,online,and more. There are also different types of hay that is okay for guinea pigs,you could mix different types of hay if you wanted.

         Alfalfa hay is also pretty popular. But,NEVER give adult guinea pigs alfalfa hay as their only hay. Alfalfa hay is only sutible for baby guinea pigs or can be a treat for adult guinea pigs.

Guinea Pig Cage Sizes

Unfortunately many people get cages that are way below requirements for guinea pigs. Almost all cages from pet stores are too small. To the left is a chart that explains everything you need to know about C&C cage sizes. If want to try something other than a C&C cage the size requirements for a different type of cage is;

2 Guinea Pigs: A minimum of 7.5 sqaure feet. Around 30" by 50" is a good size.

3 Guinea Pigs: A minimum of 10.5 square feet. 30" by 62" is a good size.

4 Guinea Pigs: A minimum of 13 sqaure feet. 30" by 76" is a good size.

5 Guinea Pigs: A minimum of 16 sqaure feet. Around 30" by 46" is a good size.

An inch is equal to about 2 CM. When you see " after a number such as 30" that means 30 inches. So,for example 30" would be 60 cenimeters.
